Un incendio scoppiato sabato 24 luglio 2021 ha distrutto la nostra casa, il Montiferru. Sono andati a fuoco foreste, pascoli, animali, l’essenza del nostro territorio. In un così grave disastro, però, per la peculiarità geologica e vegetale del Montiferru, sono rimaste straordinariamente integre alcune zone, oasi in punti e dislocazioni diversi, che ora è quanto mai necessario conoscere e che costituiscono una opportunità dalle quali ripartire.
Dopo un primo momento di puro sgomento e sopraffazione, anche noi abbiamo deciso di fare la nostra parte. Il progetto “Vulcani – Sentieri nel Montiferru” è nato quest’estate quando, insieme ad Antica Dimora del Gruccione, abbiamo deciso di devolvere il ricavato del nostro festival musicale “Vulcani Blues nel Montiferru” per la ricostruzione e rigenerazione di un sentiero naturalistico e turistico nel Comune di Santu Lussurgiu, uno dei più colpiti dall’incendio di luglio 2021.
Il nostro obbiettivo per il 2022 è proprio la realizzazione di questo importantissimo progetto, in collaborazione con l’associazione culturale “IMAGO”, il CEAS “Don Deodato Meloni” e i riders dell’associazione Montiferru MTB, che da anni si occupa dell’apertura e manutenzione di tanti sentieri del Montiferru. Proprio insieme a Montiferru MTB, sin da settembre 2021, ci siamo impegnati nel realizzare diverse giornate di intervento di bonifica, pulizia e ripristino di un sentiero scelto proprio per le sue peculiarità naturalistiche e di collegamento tra il paese e le importanti aree boschive e naturalistiche circostanti.
La nostra partecipazione a “Vulcani – Sentieri nel Montiferru” è resa possibile non solo dal ricavato dell’edizione 2021 del nostro festival, ma anche da chi ha aderito alla campagna “Montiferru Stay Strong” acquistando i nostri dischi, e da diversi artisti vicini alla nostra etichetta (come The Giannies, Donato Cherchi, Kristina Jacobsen), che hanno deciso di aiutarci a dare un apporto più forte a questo grande progetto. La grande vicinanza dimostrata dalle tante persone vicine a Talk About Records, è alla base delle risorse che impiegheremo nel progetto.
A questi, si è aggiunta negli scorsi giorni una grande asta benefica promossa da Keaton Consulting srl e dall’Azienda Agricola Montevertine – Radda in Chianti, che vede coinvolte 109 aziende vitivinicole da tutta Italia, che hanno donato una magnum battuta poi all’asta per sostenere il nostro progetto di rigenerazione del sentiero che collega il paese di Santu Lussurgiu con San Leonardo de Siete Fuentes, uno dei parchi della “Rete dei Giardini Storici di Sardegna” da sempre meta turistica, per la sua bellezza e le sue acque.
Grazie alla collaborazione tra tutte queste realtà, il progetto va avanti e continuerà per tutta la primavera con nuove azioni di pulizia e messa in sicurezza, che ci vedranno realizzare la prima parte del sentiero entro l’inizio dell’estate 2022.

A tremendous arson that broke out on Saturday, 24 July 2021, destroyed our land, the Montiferru region, in Sardinia. Forests, pastures, animals, the essence of our territory have gone up in flames. In such a severe disaster, however, due to the geological and vegetal peculiarity of the Montiferru, some areas remained extraordinarily intact, oases in different points and locations, which it is now more necessary to know and which constitute an opportunity from which to start again.
After the first moment of pure overwhelming dismay, we decided to do our part for the regeneration of the nature surrounding us. “Vulcani – Sentieri nel Montiferru” was born this summer when, together with Antica Dimora del Gruccione, we decided to donate the proceeds of our music festival “Vulcani Blues nel Montiferru“ for the reconstruction and regeneration of a trail in the area of Santu Lussurgiu, one of the most affected by the wildfires of July 2021.
Our goal for 2022 is precisely the realization of this project, in collaboration with the “IMAGO” cultural association, the CEAS “Don Deodato Meloni,”, and the mountain bike riders of the Montiferru MTB association, which for years has been dealing with the opening and maintenance of many trails in the Montiferru area. Together with Montiferru MTB, since September 2021, we have been committed to carrying out several days of cleaning, restoring, and rebuilding a trail chosen precisely for its naturalistic peculiarities and connection between the town and the surrounding wooded areas.
Our participation in “Vulcani – Sentieri nel Montiferru” is made possible not only by the proceeds of the 2021 edition of our festival but also by those who have joined the “Montiferru Stay Strong” campaign by purchasing our records and by several artists (as The Giannies, Donato Cherchi, Kristina Jacobsen) who have decided to help us make a more substantial contribution to this great project. The closeness shown by the many people is the basis of the resources that we will use for “Vulcani – Sentieri nel Montiferru.”
Additionally, on January 15th, a large charity auction started involving 109 wineries from all over Italy, who have donated a magnum bottle then auctioned to support our regeneration project of the trail that connects the town of Santu Lussurgiu with San Leonardo de Siete Fuentes, one of the regional parks of the “Network of Historical Gardens of Sardinia”.
Thanks to the collaboration between all these realities, the “Vulcani Sentieri nel Montiferru” project goes on and will continue throughout the spring with new cleaning and trail building sessions, which will see us riding again the first part of the path by the beginning of summer 2022.
